Seeing the potential for seemingly simple objects to inspire transformative creative opportunities.
I love to intertwine natural forms with emerging digital technologies to create unique outcomes that cross boundaries between digital and physical. The digital makeup designs on this page evolved through a developmental cycle that begins with a physical object, then practical response drawing, to photographic artwork, to digitally-rendered makeup design. The next step of the cycle is to realise the designs into physical again, through makeup. Each stage of this process produces an element which, itself, is an artwork that can be morphed, layered, illuminated, chopped, rotated, and developed in so many ways, to produce endless truly unique and organic creations which extend the life and legacy of a beautiful yet tangible thing such as a flower or a mushroom.
Using more skills to develop designs.
My artistic background is advantageous through this process. I often incorporate more stages of experimental practical development, such as life-drawing, mark-making and illustrative watercolour painting. The environment in which I experiment can influence my personal response and visual outcome. I feel so artistic when I’m outside in nature.
