WIGS, HAIR & HEAD PROPS

Wig-making, Setting & Dressing | Experimental Head Props |

Hair Cutting, Colouring & Styling.

Hair is a key component of many of my designs, and it works hand-in-hand with a makeup creation. The complex skills of wig-making open endless potential for unique, custom-made, transformative designs which can totally amplify a character realisation.

Wig for “[DIS]CONNECTED” Character Realisation

The character design for ‘Frank’ included a deep brown colour custom full-lace wig which has been completely hand-tied with hours of careful knotting. The wig was dressed with a hand-made felted head piece made from wool and silk fibres.

Wig for “Three Body Problem” Character Realisation

My design for the character of an environmental activist called “Mike Evans” included a custom full-lace wig that was a dark blonde colour and had a tussled curly texture. I designed and realised the wig for the character of Evans to reflect his out-door lifestyle.

Synthetic Wig Styling

Here, I roller-set and steamed a synthetic platinum blonde wig before dressing and styling a sleek and fluffy 1940s glamour inspired look.

Initial design taught by Carl Brown during further professional education course.

Synthetic Wig Restoration

Sometimes, synthetic shop-bought wigs can come with a harsh, unnatural hairline that might need some alterations. I like to add strands of hair in areas that are lacking, and remove any unwanted bits around the edges of the front lace.

This process can completely transform a wig, making it look far more natural, delicate and seamless.
